There’s nothing like a good thriller to keep you hooked from the very first page. With their unpredictable twists, complex characters, and gripping plots, I’ve been loving the genre recently. Read on to discover my latest thriller reads and what I thought of them.

Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris

Behind Closed Doors is a fast-paced domestic thriller that follows a married couple, Jack and Grace. From the outside, it looks like they have the perfect marriage, but, as hinted by the title, things are not as they seem. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Jack is a psychopath and Grace is trapped in an unimaginable nightmare. This book is chilling and draws readers into a web of manipulation and psychological torment. I found the story very gripping and couldn’t put it down. From the first page, it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and you find yourself rooting for Grace to escape her captivity. A must-read for psychological thriller fans.

The Other Wife by Claire McGowan

Also a domestic thriller, The Other Wife is told from the perspectives of three women: Elle, Nora, and Suzi. Suzi is pregnant and living in a secluded area with her controlling husband, Nick. Meanwhile, former pianist, Elle, spends her days at home waiting for her husband, fixated on keeping up appearances and being the “perfect” wife. Suzi is hopeful when a new neighbour, Nora, moves nearby and soon becomes friends with her. However, buried secrets emerge, threatening to upend Suzi’s life and reveal shocking truths about those closest to her. This story is filled with lies, deceit, betrayal and secrets. It kept me wanting to read more due to its many twists and turns. Its well-plotted with short, gripping chapters and unlikeable but interesting characters — a great read!

The Curfew by T.M. Logan

In The Curfew by T.M. Logan, GP Andy Boyd’s life unravels when his son Connor breaks his curfew, and a teenage girl goes missing. Connor and his friends are implicated in her disappearance. As Andy investigates to protect his son, he uncovers dark secrets and faces unsettling truths. The allegations against his son forces Andy to question how well he truly knows his own child, and this is a key theme of the book. The story explores loyalty, trust, and the lengths a parent will go to for their family. Although I found parts of it needlessly wordy, overall this book is well written and keeps you wanting to read more.
