Can The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG banish puffy eyes and dark circles? I’ve tried it for several weeks to put it to the test. Read on to find out my thoughts!
About The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG is an eye serum that is designed to help counteract dark circles and puffiness. It contains 5% Caffeine and Epigallocatechin Gallatyl Glucoside (EGCG), an ingredient derived from green tea leaves.
The product is designed for those who are experiencing puffiness and dark circles under the eyes caused by tiredness, lack of sleep or stress. The Ordinary states that this serum won’t work on hereditary dark circles.
How to Apply & When to Use The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
Massage a small amount of the serum onto the eye contour in the morning and evening. You can use this product every day for faster results.
Ingredients
As I mentioned before, this eye serum contains Caffeine and EGCG. What’s more, it contains some very hydrating ingredients including Glycerin, Hyaluronic Acid, Urea and Lactic Acid. The product is fragrance-free and oil-free. Let’s take a closer look at the benefits of the key ingredients:
- Caffeine – Caffeine can reduce puffiness under the eyes, re-energise the skin and protect it from damage. It also has anti-ageing properties.
- EGCG – EGCG is extracted from green tea leaves, which fights free radicals, helps soothe inflammation and can also protect your skin from sun damage.
- Hyaluronic Acid – Hyaluronic acid provides a moisture boost to the skin. The humectant draws water from the environment and binds it into the skin.

Consistency & Texture
This serum is very lightweight and has a gel-like consistency.
Packaging
The product comes in a 30ml bottle with a dropper applicator.
The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG Review
I have enjoyed using this serum. I found that it does make a significant difference to puffy eyes, which I noticed after using it for about a week. I also like how hydrating it is as well as its impressive antioxidant content. However, I found that it didn’t really help much with dark circles. Also, it’s important to note that the results are temporary and this isn’t a miracle product. This serum can’t replace good habits such as getting enough sleep at night and drinking enough water. Overall, it’s a really good affordable product that is hydrating, anti-ageing and able to reduce puffiness under the eyes. Definitely worth a try!
Price and Availability
