Uses of Castile SoapCastile soap is an all-natural, multipurpose product that can be used for a ton of things. Washing your face, body and hair, mopping your floors, cleaning your countertops.. and so much more. There really is nothing that castile soap can’t do! In today’s post, I’m going to be sharing 10 of my favourite uses of castile soap:

What is Castile Soap?

Castile soap is a vegetable-based soap that originates from the Castile region of Spain, where it was made using pure olive oil. Found in both liquid and bar form, castile soap is known for being versatile and multifunctional. This one product can greatly simplify both your personal care and cleaning products.

Which Brand Do I Recommend?

There are quite a few castile soap brands available, but I highly recommend Dr. Bronner’s, a brand that has been around since 1858. Their products are all certified organic, fair trade, non-GMO, and not tested on animals. They are made with pure olive, coconut, hemp, and jojoba oils. I use the baby mild version and add in my own essential oils when needed. However, Dr. Bronner’s also offer a variety of scents such as peppermint, citrus and rose.

Personal Care

Body Wash – Only a small amount of castile soap is needed to thoroughly cleanse your body. Just squirt a little on your bath sponge, mix with water and you’re good to go!

Face Wash – Using diluted castile soap on your face will gently cleanse the skin without stripping it of its natural beneficial oils. I find that it leaves my skin clear and glowy.

Hand Soap – A couple of drops of it mixed with water also works great for handwashing.

Shaving Cream – Just lather a few drops of castile soap, rub it onto your legs and shave. Simple!

Shampoo – It works very well as a shampoo because of the fact that it gently washes your locks without stripping the scalp.

Cleaning

Makeup Brush Cleaner – I don’t know about you, but I often find myself forgetting to clean my makeup brushes! If you’ve been meaning to clean yours, using a few drops of castile soap will make it a quick and easy process.

Cleaning Spray – You can also use this amazing stuff for cleaning pretty much anything in your home! Just mix 1/4 cup castile soap, a quart of water and your favourite essential oils in a spray bottle. You can use this spray to clean your oven, microwave, kitchen countertops, bathtub, sink, and much more.

Mopping – For mopping floors, mix a couple of tablespoons of castile soap to one gallon of hot water.

Dish Soap – You can have an all-natural dish soap in no time! Instead of buying your usual washing up liquid, why not try using a few drops of it to take care of those dirty plates?

Fruit and Veggie Wash – You can be sure to get rid of dirt or pesticides on your fruit and veg by washing them with diluted castile soap. Rinse well afterwards.
