coconut oil beauty usesI’m a big fan of coconut oil as there’s just so many ways you can use it. It really does do it all! Whether you need to cook with it, moisturise your hair or care for your nails – it will solve all of your problems. And the best thing? Unlike many beauty products in the shops, it’s 100% natural. Amazing! Today, I’m going to share five of my favourite coconut oil beauty uses.

When shopping for your coconut oil, it’s so important to choose one that is 100% extra virgin, organic and raw, with no extra ingredients added. That way you’ll be able to know for sure that you’ll be getting the full benefits. I love this Coconut Oil by Vita Coco. It’s excellent quality and one I will repurchase again and again.

Coconut Oil Beauty Uses

1) Makeup Remover

Coconut oil makes an excellent makeup remover. If you haven’t tried this before, then you’re definitely missing out – it works incredibly well! The consistency of your coconut oil will depend on where you live. Yours may be runny, but as it’s forever cold here in London, mine is solid. So, to use it as a makeup remover, first I rub some between my fingers and it instantly melts into a more liquidy consistency. I then put the coconut oil on a cotton wool pad and gently rub my makeup away in circular motions. It breaks down makeup so easily and even effortlessly removes stubborn mascara and bold lipstick.

2) Face Cleanser

The second way I like to use coconut oil is as a face cleanser. To do this, I gently massage the coconut oil into my skin and it melts away any dirt and impurities that are trapped in the pores. Next, I take a hot washcloth and gently wipe it all away. Simple! It leaves your face feeling so incredibly clean and soft. And the great thing is that it won’t leave your skin feeling tight as it doesn’t strip it of its natural moisture.

3) Moisturiser

Another amazing way to use coconut oil is as a body moisturiser – your skin will just love it! Take a small amount in your hands and rub it onto your skin. As you massage it in, it will melt and sink into the skin quickly and easily. It’s important to remember to only take a small amount – a little goes a long way with Coconut oil! As it’s super hydrating, whenever I use it I always notice how nourished and smooth it leaves my skin looking and feeling. It’s also amazing to use on your face as a night cream. When you wash it off in the morning, your skin will have such a lovely, healthy glow to it. As it naturally has anti-bacterial properties, it’s a great option for those who have acne prone skin.

4) Cuticle Strengthener

To give your nails and cuticles some TLC, swipe a small amount of coconut oil onto each of them and allow it to sink in. The nutrients in coconut oil will help keep them soft and hydrated. What’s more, it’s great to use because of the fact that it helps prevent the nails from becoming brittle and assists in keeping them strong and healthy.

5) Hair Conditioner

Last but not least, coconut oil is an incredible hair conditioner. There’s a reason why many conditioners in the shops contain coconut oil – it’s because it’s so good at absorbing deep into the hair follicles. Just scoop out a generous amount and apply it to your hair, first focusing on the ends and working your way up to the roots. Leave it on for ten to twenty minutes and then wash it out, and you’ll be left with soft, luscious locks.
