Start the day off right with this healthy Apple, Banana & Cinnamon Smoothie. It’s packed full of protein, calcium, fibre and vitamins that will kick-start your day — it’s definitely the perfect breakfast smoothie!
It also tastes delicious! It has a lovely sweet taste that works well with the slight kick of the cinnamon. As there are only a handful of ingredients, it’s super easy to make too. No-one wants to be faffing about in the morning, so this one’s perfect for when you want a quick breakfast or one to bring with you on the go. This smoothie will also keep you satisfied until lunchtime — amazing!
Despite how nice it tastes, it’s actually really good for you. Let’s take a look at some of the health benefits of the ingredients in this smoothie:
Almonds
Eating almonds can protect your heart. As almonds contain a high amount of vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, they protect against free radical oxidation of cholesterol, which is strongly linked to cardiovascular disease. They also maintain skin health. As Vitamin E helps protect the collagen fibres within your skin cells, almonds can nourish the skin and reduce signs of aging.
Apple
Apples have many health benefits. Due to pectin, a type of soluble fibre that apples contain, they can help lower cholesterol. They’ve also been linked to better lung function, so can help prevent breathing problems. What’s more, studies show that they can decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
Banana
Bananas contain high levels of potassium, an essential mineral that maintains proper heart function and regulates your blood pressure. They also contain a good amount of fibre, which greatly helps your digestive system run smoothly.
Natural Yoghurt
Natural yoghurt contains Lactobacillus Acidophilus, a probiotic with a lot of health benefits. It helps you digest food, produces vitamins and facilitates digestion. What’s more, it also fights infection and enhances your immunity.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon is loaded with antioxidants, which has anti-inflammatory effects that can help lower the risk of disease. It can also lower blood sugar levels and help fight off bacterial and fungal infections.
Ingredients (Serves one)
1 Banana (peeled and broken into chunks)
1 Medium Apple (cut up into pieces)
1/2 a cup (118ml) of Almond Milk
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon.
190g of natural yoghurt
