If you’ve ever looked inside your cram-packed wardrobe and said, “I have nothing to wear!” then it’s time to get organised. I’m sure the idea of even starting to declutter your wardrobe is overwhelming, but it’s a necessary task that needs to be done. Trust me, I’ve been there before and I know how you feel. That’s why I’ve decided to share some simple steps on how to declutter your wardrobe to help make the process easier for you.
Step One: Be Prepared
Make sure you’re in the right frame of mind before you begin to declutter your wardrobe. Be prepared to spend at least a few hours sorting through your clothes, possibly even longer if you have a huge amount. Remember to get your boxes and bin bags ready.
Step Two: Start from Scratch
The next step is to remove all of the clothes from your wardrobe. Yes, all of it! This ensures that absolutely every item in your wardrobe gets sorted through. You’ll probably end up rediscovering clothes that you haven’t seen in donkey’s years once you do this step!
Step Three: Sort Your Clothes into Piles
Sort all of your clothes into three piles: “Keep,” “Throw Away,” and “Sell/Donate.” Don’t keep any clothes that don’t fit you well anymore, are uncomfortable or worn out. In addition, don’t keep clothes that you haven’t worn for ages. Chances are, if you haven’t worn something for over a year, then you’re probably not going to wear it again. Only keep clothes that make you look and feel amazing. You want all of your clothes to be your favourites!
Step Four: Organise the “Keep” Pile
So now the hard part is over, it’s time to put your clothes back into your wardrobe. Place them back in neatly and organised. I recommend putting everything in a designated place. For example, you could put all of your dresses together and have another place for all of your jumpers. Doing this will save you so much time in the morning as you’ll know where everything is.
Step Five: Selling and Donating Clothes
Now you know which clothes you’re going to throw away and have organised the clothes you’re keeping, next you’re going to deal with the last pile. First, decide which clothes you’ll be taking to your local charity shop. Donating clothes to charity is an excellent way to declutter your wardrobe whilst helping out the community. You should also decide if you’re going to sell any clothes online. I’ve found that using eBay is the quickest and easiest way to do this.
Step Six: Treat Yourself!
You now have a decluttered and organised wardrobe. You definitely deserve a reward after all of that organising! So go on, treat yourself!

I’ve very recently decluttered my wardrobe, and I’m making it easier to see what I’ve got, and worn recently by using an app on my phone. It’s very good when shopping too as I can see what things new purchases can be worn with.
Which app is that? It sounds very handy!
