6 natural ways to boost your energyHave you ever hit an afternoon slump or struggled to stay alert throughout the day, and wondered how to boost your energy without turning to a caffeine fix? If the answer is yes – then this post is for you! There are plenty of natural ways to gain energy and say goodbye to tiredness and fatigue. In today’s post, I’d like to share six natural ways to boost your energy. I’ve tried and tested these methods, and they work very well.

1. Stay Hydrated

The most common cause of fatigue is dehydration. Where you live, your activity level and your diet will determine how much water you need to drink, but at least eight glasses a day is usually recommended for everyone. To make this easier, keep a water bottle with you at all times and drink throughout the day. As well as keeping you hydrated, this will help increase your energy levels too. Here’s some tips on how to drink more water.

2. Get Moving

When you’re feeling tired, exercise is probably the last thing you want to do. However, it can actually help you feel a lot more energised. Exercise delivers oxygen and nutrients to your body’s cells, helping your heart and lungs work more efficiently and boosting energy levels. There’s no need to carry out a strenuous workout, just going for a walk or carrying out some stretches is enough to gain the benefits.

3. Get Some Sunshine

If you’ve been stuck inside all day, getting outside for some vitamin D is a great way to boost your energy. Just soaking up some sunshine for ten to fifteen minutes can make all the difference! Sunlight helps the body produce vitamin D, which is essential for good health. It also boosts your serotonin levels, which can elevate your mood and help you sleep better at night.

4. Eat Well

Fuelling your body with nutritious, healthy food is another way to keep your energy levels high. Eating a piece of fruit is perfect for those times when you’re feeling zapped of energy and also provides a ton of health benefits. For example, an apple is filled with vitamin C, fibre, and complex carbohydrates, making it a great energy-boosting snack.

5. Reduce Your Sugar Intake

While eating sugar-filled foods often gives you a surge of energy, it’s actually very deceptive. A sugar high is very quickly followed by a huge drop in energy AKA the “sugar crash.” So avoid fizzy drinks, sweets and anything else filled with sugar if you want to keep your energy levels up. Eating too many refined carbohydrates, such as such as white bread and pizza dough, can also cause a sugar crash to occur.

6. Get Some Sleep

Getting good quality sleep at night is essential for our wellbeing. Research shows that lack of sleep can be detrimental to your health. For that reason, it’s so important to get the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep per night. If you struggle with this, try resetting your body clock by going to bed at the same time every night and waking up at the same time every morning. Here are some more tips on how to get a better night’s sleep.
