We all feel stress from time to time — whether it’s because of work, finances, health, or major life events. Too much stress can wear us down and leave us feeling unhappy, exhausted and overwhelmed. Thankfully, there are ways to stress less and not let it rule your life. In today’s post, I’m sharing five ways to stress less and enjoy life more:
1) Start The Day Off Right
Create a morning routine that will set you up for a really great day. Rather than hitting the snooze button and waking up in a panic, get up early so that you have enough time to prepare for the day ahead. In the mornings you could make yourself a healthy breakfast, go for a run or carry out some exercises, spend some time in prayer, write a gratitude list — the possibilities are endless. Finding the right morning routine for yourself is key – it will leave you much more able to handle any challenges that come your way throughout the day.
2) Write It All Down
Writing is very therapeutic and can really help calm you down. A good idea is to write down a list of all of the things that are stressing you out – everything, no matter how big or small. Just getting it all out of your head and onto paper will instantly make you feel so much better. You can then work out what steps you need to take to tackle the issues and make the list smaller.
3) Get Active
I’m sure you’ve heard how good exercise is for stress. Research has shown that exercise elevates your mood and reduces the effects of stress in the body. Physical activity produces endorphins — chemicals in the brain that make you feel good — and also improves the ability to sleep, which results in reduced stress levels. A brisk walk outdoors is a great way to get active. Not only will the exercise improve your stress levels, but the fresh air will do you a world of good too.
4) Take a Break
It’s so important to know when you need to take a break. If you’re trying to do a hundred things at once, working 24/7 and not taking any breaks, burnout is inevitable. Block out a time in your weekly schedule for when you can have some “me time.” You could use this time to read a book, run yourself a bubble bath or spend some time with family or friends. You could even use this time to simply be still and reflect on life.
5) Let Things Go
In every stressful situation you face in life, you have two options: you can let the stress beat you or try to overcome the challenge and focus on the positive. Although it’s not always easy, the latter option will leave you much happier and healthier. Often times, we can find ourselves stressing about small things that really won’t matter in a few years. When you find yourself feeling stressed about something small, take a deep breath and then let it go!

Getting active is so important and it’s one I think goes forgotten or gets pushed to the side during stressful times. Amazing how even 10 minutes of exercise can help boost mood
These are all really great ideas. I find a day with a good walk makes such a difference!
