10 Ways to Use Aloe Vera on Your Skin and HairAloe vera has been used since ancient times and is well-known for its excellent healing properties. Did you know that there are many benefits to using the plant in your daily skin and hair regimen? Whether you use it as a face moisturiser or hair growth treatment, aloe vera can become a staple in your beauty routine. I’ve tried all of the different uses in today’s post and I’m in love with this multi-purpose plant! Here’s ten ways to use aloe vera on your skin and hair:

Where to find Aloe Vera Gel

The best way to use aloe vera gel is straight from the plant. Harvest the leaves, split them open with a knife and scrape out the gel with a spoon. If you don’t own a plant, then you can use store-bought aloe vera gel. Just make sure it says “100% pure” on the bottle. This aloe vera gel is a good pick as it’s pure, high quality and organic.

10 Ways to Use Aloe Vera on Your Skin and Hair:

Here are some of the plant’s beauty uses:

SKIN

1. Makeup Remover

Apply aloe vera gel on a cotton ball and gently wipe away your makeup. This all-natural way to remove your makeup even easily dissolves stubborn waterproof mascara and bold lipstick. Once you’ve used it, you’ll notice how refreshed it leaves your skin feeling.

2. Face Mask

If you’re in need of a quick facial rejuvenation, try a refreshing aloe vera and green tea face mask. To make it, simply mix 1 teaspoon of green tea with 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel. Apply it to your face and leave the mask on for around half an hour before rinsing it off.

3. Moisturiser

Known for its hydrating properties, aloe vera moisturises the skin without leaving it feeling greasy or clogging pores. This makes it ideal for anyone with an oily skin complexion as it won’t leave you too shiny. In addition, as it’s rich in vitamins C and E and beta-carotene, Aloe has anti-ageing qualities.

4.  Acne Treatment

Those who suffer from acne should definitely give aloe vera gel a try. Its antibacterial, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties protect the skin from bacteria and reduce inflammation. If you apply it to your spots overnight, you should notice a big difference in the morning. Here’s more information on how to use aloe vera for acne-prone skin.

5. Shaving Cream

Next time you run out of your usual shaving cream, try aloe vera gel instead. Because of its texture, it gives you a closer shave and avoids cuts and nicks. Due to the fact that it’s antibacterial, if you do happen to get any nicks, its healing properties will help soothe them.

HAIR

6. Shampoo

Some shampoos can leave your hair feeling stripped and ultra-dry, but aloe vera makes a really great moisturising shampoo. Try adding a few teaspoons to your current shampoo and see how strong and moisturised it leaves your hair.

7. Conditioner

Aloe works well as a conditioner for thick curly or kinky hair. Simply apply a generous amount to damp hair, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends. Let it sit in your hair for around 20-30 minutes before washing it out for healthy, moisturised hair.

8. Styler

If you’re looking for a product to define your curls, aloe vera gel could be what you’re looking for. After washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner, scrunch some into wet hair before applying your usual styler. In addition, using aloe vera gel produces a soft and defined braid or twist-out.

9. Dandruff Treatment

Dandruff has a range of causes and can leave you with a dry, irritated and itchy scalp. Because of its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, not only can aloe help get rid of dandruff, but it will also help keep it from coming back.

10. Growth Treatment

Most of us want longer hair and wish it would grow faster, but did you know that aloe vera can promote hair growth? It contains enzymes that help heal and repair the damaged cells in your scalp. This improves follicle health and leads to faster hair growth.

So those are ten simple ways to use aloe vera on your skin and hair! What do you use aloe vera for?
