One Pot Pasta

- 12 ounces penne pasta (or spaghetti)
- 12 ounces cherry tomatoes (halved)
- 1 onion (thinly sliced)
- 4 garlic cloves (peeled and thinly sliced)
- 3-4 fresh basil leaves
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4½ cups water
- parmesan cheese for topping the pasta (optional)
- In a large pot, combine the pasta, tomatoes, onion, garlic, basil, olive oil, salt and pepper. Then, pour the water on top.
- Bring to a boil over a high heat.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring constantly with tongs to make sure the pasta doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot.
- Serve immediately. You can garnish it with parmesan cheese if you like.
